ABOUT ICoSI 2019

Sustainable Innovation in Disruptive Era.

Nowadays, the improvement of technology has been creating digital transformation that gradually or radically changing people’s behavior and habits in almost every aspect of daily life. As the result, the transformation gradually change the ways in how people produce, consume, and interact with each other, not to mention the way they think. One thing that promote such significant change is the innovation. Innovation has been affecting almost every corner of human life. Within fingers reach people is able in establishing any interaction or transaction world-wide and real-time with the advancement of the internet and the keep moving innovation of mobile technology.

However, such innovation can disrupt existing equilibrium and gradually blur its boundaries. Thus, such disruptive innovation, if not well managed and regulated, would threat the social, economic, education, and technology aspect of daily life. For example, in the case of economy, disruption which lead to inefficiency in the existing system characterized by increasing financial expenses, intermediated assets, unit cost and product quality, wages and employment. The examples may go on across health, social, education, as well as engineering aspects. It is argued, then, to be successful in going through the challenge in this disruptive era we are all must maintain our pace; to be innovative.

Sustainability is regarded as one of the main drivers for disruption today. In this rapidly change era, we have been witnessing various environmental and social issues such as resource scarcity, air and water pollution, climate change, a growing and aging population and the demands of an increasingly affluent middle class. In addition, the fast-growing technology and information has brought us into a new way of dealing with daily activity in every aspect of human life. Online transaction has begun to replace the more traditional face-to-face relationship, not the least the utilization of bit coin as a new way of payment method. Online consultation has started to change the way doctors are managing their relationships with their patients. And the examples can go on and on.

Therefore, as the continuation of the 1st and the 2nd ICoSI in 2012 and 2014,  3rd ICoSI 2019 is established in the effort to capture the works from various field of researches which try to understand and explore the sustainability of any innovation in this disruptive era
